World Cup 24/06/06

My money was on Germany comfortably winning the match against Sweden, because the Swedes just don’t seem to be in top form this year. The Germans dominated this match, attacking the Swiss with a fury. If Lucic hadn’t been sent off, and Larsson had made that penalty kick, it might have been a different game.

I picked Argentina to move forward to the quarter-finals, but anticipated that Mexico would make it difficult going. And that is exactly the way it played out. Both teams played well, and this was a very exciting and balanced match, the first to be taken into extra time. I was hoping the Mexicans would be able to tie the game up to take it to penalty kicks.
