World Cup 14/06/06
Spain vs Ukraine was a very one sided game. And the Swiss ref made a very harsh call to send off Vashchuk and award Spain a penalty kick. That little tug on the shorts of Torres should have been a foul outside the box, resulting in a free kick, and maybe a yellow card. It was the ref's first ever match at this level, and it shows. Is FIFA that desparate for officials? With this win, and the number of goals scored, Spain is in good spirits to take on Tunisia, then Saudi Arabia. They will more than likely take first place in Group H.
Tunisia vs Saudi Arabia was a great game between two teams who finished up at the top of their groups in qualifying. I favoured the Saudis, but a last minute goal in overtime in the second half resulted in a draw. These teams will be interesting to watch in their next two matches, because they will both want to secure a place in the next round. Interestingly, another fan managed to make in onto the pitch to disrupt play. Security better tighen up before they have an incident.
After the first two matches, Germany vs Poland was less than stellar. The Germans did not play as well as I thought they were going to. They had trouble following through, and the Polish keeper was in good form. However, with the last minute goal by Neuville, Germany will more than likely be advancing to the next round.
