World Cup 16/06/06

I suspected that Argentina would easily best Serbia and Montenegro. I just didn’t think the domination would begin so early or that it would be such a high scoring match. S&N just could not find a way to shut down the Argentine midfield. Dick Howard called this match a “clinic on finishing” and I couldn’t have said it any better. It was nice to see Argentina field Messi.

I knew that Netherland vs Côte d’Ivoire was going to be an exciting match up. Both sides are playing well, but the Dutch were a little stronger offensively. I thought that with three corners in a row in the last moments of the game that CIV might just score. But hats off to both teams for a match well played.

I thought Mexico was going to win this match by a decisive margin. I was wrong. Congrats to the Angolans for holding the Mexicans to a scoreless draw.
